Policies
Required Course Enrollment
Per IHSAA guidelines, all South athletes are required to be enrolled in AND passing a minimum of four credit-bearing classes.
Required Number of Practices
Per IHSAA guidelines, all athletes must complete a minimum of eight team practices (after the official IHSAA start of season) before they can participate in competition.
Return to play after extended absence
Per IHSAA guidelines there are specific protocols that must be followed if an athlete is out for an extended period of time due to illness or injury.
Non-School Athletic Participation During Season
Per IHSAA guidelines, during the Authorized Contest Season in your sport, you may NOT:
Participate in a try-out or demonstration in your sport as a prospective post-secondary school student-athlete
Participate in a practice with or against players not belonging to your school in your sport
Participate in a non-school sponsored contest, in your sport, without an approved waiver (Players needing a waiver to play in a USTA tournament during season must speak with Coach Corry well in advance - failure to obtain a waiver will deem you unqualified for IHSAA play)
Attend a non-school sponsored camp or clinic in your sport.
Injuries
South has Athletic Trainers on staff that work with our injured athletes. If your player has an acute or ongoing injury - it is critical that they see one of the South Trainers BEFORE seeing an off-campus doctor. Otherwise, it becomes difficult for our trainers to work with your player and monitor their recovery. Please let me know ASAP if your player is experiencing any form of injury now or in the future.
Travel to Away Matches
All players are required to ride the bus with the team to all away matches (outside of extenuating circumstances). Bus leave times will be on the team calendar once they are available.
Players are required to ride the bus home from away matches, UNLESS Coach/Jessica is given a signed note indicating that the player will ride home with a parent. Players are ONLY permitted to ride home with their own parent/guardian.
No Coaching From the Sidelines
Parents cannot coach from the sidelines - please don’t talk with or yell to a player in any language other than English as other team may assume you are coaching.
Insurance
MCCSC does not carry insurance for any of its student athletes. Players/parents are responsible for insuring each participant has insurance coverage in the event medical treatment is needed.
Hazing, Bullying, Harassment
MCCSC, Bloomington South, and South Tennis have zero tolerance for hazing, bullying or harassment. The focus of our program demands our continued pursuit of becoming leaders through service, growing into teammates and competitors who find our pride in the team and in the tradition it represents, and in the good we do even more than the wins we may attain.
Social Media
If athletes wear South attire or identify themselves as students from Bloomington South in social media posts, their actions can be held against them in accordance with school policy and the athletic handbook.
