Meet Our Coaches
Matt Corry | Head Coach
Coach Corry grew up in the Philippines and at a very young age learned to love the game of tennis when he would ball-boy for 5 Pesos (.25 cents) per match. He played two years of high school tennis in Kentucky, after moving back to the U.S. at age 16 and earned a scholarship to play at the University of the Cumberlands. He spent two summers coaching players from 25+ countries at Saddlebrook (Harry Hopman Tennis Academy), which was the #2 tennis academy in the U.S. at the time. He also coached clinics in China with Michael Chang (former world #2). Coach Corry has 23 seasons as a head coach, working with both boys and girls teams, and over 23+ years as a private tennis coach.
Assistant Coaches
Bloomington South Tennis would not be possible without our amazing volunteer assistant coaches, who all bring significant and valuable experience to the players they coach. These coaches are an integral part of our year-round commitment to South Players.
Tim Couch
Coach Tim played #1 singles for Trine University. He has continued to be a life-long tennis player, winning multiple City Championships as an adult. He continues playing in adult leagues while also serving as an assistant coach with Bloomington South Tennis and community baseball.
Erinn Drone
Coach Erinn grew up in a tennis family and played #3 varsity singles for three years at Jasper High School. She was coached by Ed Yarbrough and Mike O’Connell in Jasper and these two remarkable coaches helped lead the team to the position of state runner-up her senior year. She believes dedication, mental toughness, and attitude are the essentials to success. Erinn has professionally worked with youth in education for 20+ years.
Aaralyn Mills
Aaralyn is a student at Indiana University. She comes to us from Pike High School in Indianapolis where she played varsity singles starting as a freshman and has also played year round through USTA tournaments. Outside of volunteering with South Tennis, Aaralyn also stays involved with tennis by working as a USTA official for tournaments throughout the state.
Ethan Uhls
Ethan grew up playing tennis and was a four year varsity tennis player at Bloomington High School South. His senior year, he finished 3rd in the state in doubles and was part of three sectional championship teams. He is now studying at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Ethan Upchurch
Ethan got the love of tennis from his parents and played on the BHSS team for two years of high school. In addition to his volunteering with the boys tennis team, he also devotes a significant amount of time to working with Sounds of South. When Ethan is not at Bloomington South, he spends his time as a full-time student at Indiana University studying music education and vocal performance.
Logistics Coordinator
Jessica Corry
